EnergyEdge, EE8fb rail profile for

“TWO-POUR”  FOUNDATION / SLAB ASSEMBLY

1a. EnergyEdge (EE) Perimeter Rail:  EE8fb profile, 12’ length typical.   90 and 45 degree connection members are available for easy and accurate installation.

1b. Alignment of EnergyEdge System on traditional 2x2 wood stake & kicker assembly.

1c. Install EE systems:  FIRST locating and leveling corner members;  SECOND Install full lengths of rail systems from each end of straight runs, leveling each end of material first followed by remaining “spaced” braces or supports next;  THIRD, continue process to center of each straight run cutting only last member to fit.

INSTALLATION of FORMING MATERIALS &

POURING OF FOUNDATION

2a. Foundations are typically shallow “at-grade” type bearing conditions, minimum 12” wide, depth vaires.

2b. EnergyEdge EE8fb rail  product pre-assembled with EE8sb braces spaced as recommended.  Screw fasten one Simpson Strong-Tie®, #H2.5AZ twist strap (T-Strap) to center brace and first brace on each end.  Attach T-Strap only to EEbrace allowing it to “slide”, this allows fine adjustments when attaching strap to 2x2 perimeter stakes.

2c. Roughly aligning 2X2 stakes at both ends of EErail, begin aligning system with stringline and screwing rail to wood stakes when level.  Add center stake and attach T-strap.

2d. Secure the top to the EErail by wiring through the top of the interior EE8sb support brace around the top of the wood stakes.  A wood shim between the stake and EErail can be used to adjust the vertical alignment of the EErail.

2e. When installing the final section in each run of material, insure that at least 1 brace at either end of final section is supported with a T-Strap mechanically fasted to EEbrace.

2f. Install 2” rigid board insulation below EErail cut to fit depth requirements of foundation.  Add short stakes and or backfill as required to hold insulation material in place during placement of monolithic foundation/slab pour.
